Sourdough Starter Day One...for the Third Time
Okay, so I've attempted making a sourdough starter twice before, and let's just say it didn't go so well. But they say third time's the charm, right? This time around, I'm using King Arthur Unbleached bread flour. For day one, I mixed 1 cup of flour with about half a cup of room temperature or lukewarm water. I adjusted the water until the consistency was somewhere between pancake batter and muffin batter. Then, I loosely covered it and now I'm just gonna let it sit for 24 hours.
Now, why am I doing this? Well, besides the fact that it's cheaper in the long run than buying bread from the store, sourdough bread actually has some pretty awesome health benefits. Let me break it down for you:
1. It may support gut health. Who doesn't want a happy gut, right?
2. It may help manage blood sugar levels. Good news for all you carb-lovers out there.
3. It may reduce the risk of heart disease. Gotta take care of that ticker.
4. It might be easier to digest. No more bloating or discomfort after eating bread.
5. And last but not least, it could be more nutritious. Get those extra nutrients in!
So yeah, I'm pretty excited to see how this sourdough journey turns out.
